Yep, its that time of year:
When I know you’re getting alot of email cards. Wishes. Happy talk. Things reminding you how special you are.
Things that, in the past, I have avoided these like the plague.
Its not that I’m a Scrooge. Its just that alot of these greetings come under the category of:
“I really want to tell these people I care about them but I don’t know how.” And unfortunately you end up creating something that’s remembered. For about 10 seconds. And then forgotten.
Well, I wanted to do something that would stay with you the entire year. And maybe longer. Crazy. I know.
Well โฆ courtesy of someone in the complex where I live โฆ I discovered a “grin-from-ear-to-ear” idea. Thatย you won’t just delete. You won’t just say,ย “That’s nice” and move on with your day.
This one definitely goes up on the fridge. And it will stay up all year long.
Because last week, some wise but anonymous soul at the complex where I Iive tacked up one of those tear-off thingy’s. You know — that people tack up on telephone poles offering their services:
- Computer help
- Handy man
- Carpet cleaning
With little tear off tabs at the bottom with their phone number?
Well my friend put one of these up in our mailbox area. But instead of a phone number on the tear-offs, she put wishes for the coming year:
- Love
- Peace
- Strength
And the folks where I live absolutely went to town on it. And it made me think:ย What if I did something like that with little tear-offs for building your business?ย
A high end client?
A big speaking gig?
A killer product launch idea
So I did.ย And I created a cool little PDF. That you can download. Print out. Cut out. And put up on your fridge.
(Or wherever else you might see it). And whenever your business or your life is getting you a little down. Or you need something to bust through a plateau โฆ
Just tear off the cool little tab that corresponds to what you need!
OK โฆ first a disclaimer:
i am not some magnificent swami who has descended from an ancient secret society of evolved beings (at least as far as I know). So there is a chance you won’t get what’s on your tab. (At least right away).
But alot of times what you need most in business is a laugh. To keep going. To be reminded of what you really want. (Instead of what that email that pops into your in box says you have to have). That puts a smile on your face. Instead of despair.
And most importantly โฆ puts front and center what you most need to take on action on. Because action and focus really are the secret sauce that takes this off the fridge and puts it smack dab in the center of your life.
So here is the drill:
Right click this link to download your own copy of this PDF.
IMPORTANT:ย Read the instructions!!!ย Yep, right on one of the first pages I tell you exactly what you need to do. Its pretty simple. If you made it through 1st Grade Art, you can do this!
I’ve even given you a couple options:
- For business
- For personal life
- Even a blank one where you can write in your own tabs
And the neat thing about this, is once you tear everything off โฆ you can print out another one and start all over.
Cool, huh?
So I’m excited about this. I know its silly. But gosh, isn’t this alot more fun than holiday wishes?
And one more thing โฆ
The biggest thing you can do to give me warm fuzzies is, when you tear off one of your little tabs: Be sure you take the actions that actually help you experience what is on your tab.
And โฆ if you really love this (or even like it a little bit):
Please pay it back and pay it forward by leaving a comment below. And clicking one of the little Twitter and Facebook buttons on the left to share with your friends.
Just like it didn’t cost you anything. It won’t cost them anything. (Promise!) Not even an email address.
And isn’t that the best part of all?
Dear Rob,
What a perfectly delicious and delightful way to help us to start the New Year with inventive tools that inspire hope and humor, plus effective action as a result.
It is a blessing to be part of your circle of friends and admirers,
Marjorie
Thank you Marjorie!
Thanks for sharing Rob a great idea and it can be recycled;)
Yep, they sure can Ray! Put them up on the fridge or anywhere else you will see them regularly!
Hi Rob, This is just another example of how you always demonstrate that things that make a difference and keep us moving forward don’t have to be tedious and complicated…they can be simple, playful and FUN! Thanks for sharing this! Happy Holidays!
Just a good old fashioned reminder or motivator when you need it — you really can do this stuff! And Happy Holidays for you too, Sharon!
WOW!! The is so cool…. I LOVE it! Thanks for sharing this.
Are you quite sure you’re not some kind of swami???
Quite sure, Liz, but I’m glad this made your year’s end a bit more special! ๐
Soooo great, Rob! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Donna! Glad this hit the spot for you.
Rob, you make the most tedious and scary business leaps fun. Thanks for this new idea – good things will happen in 2016!
Yep! They will Lyne! Just post these tabs where you see them, tear off the ones you want to focus on (this is important) take the appropriate actions to follow through. But this is a great (and fun!) way to keep what is most important top of mind.
This is awesome. I’m going to print these up for our clan of business incubator students to help them laugh through the new year. Then, I’m going to make ones for the independent researchers and scientists with statements like, “This experiment to finish before dinner… or any other reasonable hour.” ๐
Thank you for the fun idea!
Super Grace! So pleased this will not only help you but those in your circle!
Wow Rob, what a fabulous idea, and with so many other options for creating new flyers.
Can't wait to see what you come up with in 2012! This year's tips were outstanding.
Happy New Year to you.
Thank you Kathy. Yes, the “create-your-own” option is exciting. Thanks for your kind words on this year’s content. And yes, lots of cool stuff to come. Stay tuned!
Now that is a very needed Christmas present, awesome! Thank You Rob:)
How ingenius! Love, love, love this idea. And thanks so much for regifting and passing it along to us. Happy New Year!
Hi Julie — Thanks so much! Was feeling it might be a bit silly. But looks like it struck a nerve! Hope it helps you accomplish everything you want in 2012.
Rob,
This is such a creative idea and a motivating one, too! And, it comes from such a common and simple yet widespread item that we've all seen over and over again, proving that we all see and experience things everyday that can really become something that spurs us on to success, personally and professionally. It's always good to keep a lookout and an open mind to possibilities!
Thank you for sharing!
Tassey
Hi Tassey — Isn’t that the truth! When I went out to my mailbox and saw the original idea, it took a minute for it to sink in. Yes, we’ve seen this thing a million times. But I’d never seen it quite like that. I just gave it a little marketing twist. Hope it puts alot of smiles on alot of faces.
What a cool idea! I wish I'd thought of it. I especially love the one where you can write in your own tabs, Thanks, Rob. And Happy New Year!
Thanks Nancy — Not only can you write your own tabs. You can print out as many of them as you like.
Rob:
You really know how to put the HOPE and FAITH back in a "temporarily" lost and misguided soul's life! ๐
Thank you for being you! I was so blessed all those years ago when I was on the first call with you and Lou and we did our first Video Profit Pipeline!
Thank you for this, and YES I WILL pass it on!
Happy Holidays!
Roz Fruchtman
Hi Roz — Glad this helped! And the emphasis is on “temporarily” lost. Its all about taking the next step to move forward. Hope this helps you to stay focused on moving ahead.
Rob:
Geez… Actually I did look at the template when we got it, but I "forgot" whether there was an option to change the top portion. <shaking head>
We could even paste an image on top and then make a copy and print it out with the blank ones if it applies or just scotch tape it on. The object it "TO TAKE ACTION and NOT be perfect!" ๐ (I'll get there!)
Thanks again Rob. I am going to share it again with my followers and friends.
Roz
Hi Roz — Yes, the Fridge Tabs Document is a PDF … its not an app. (Haven’t got into creating my own software … yet). But yes, you can personalize the template to a specific goal by printing out a photo or graphic, and just pasting it over the center section above that tabs. And that will enable you to customize to your heart’s content.
