Coaches and consultants LOVE processes! We dive into them, and we explain them in glorious detail.
But as we explain them, we see the eyes of the people we’re talking to glaze over: We’re losing them because we’re talking about what we do, instead of what we do for them.
So ditch the deep dive on process and focus on a specific tangible solution.

While clarity, confidence or energy may be necessary to create your outcome, none of them are tangible. And all of them are intermediate steps.
Clarity and confidence are only great because they make the REAL payoff possible. Example: If you’re talking about the confidence to close sales, the payoff they pay for is closing sales.
Intermediate outcomes do not provide your podcast audience with the specific outcomes they desire, and if there’s no desire they’re not going to want to hire you or join your list.

This piggyback’s on our last tip: Even though you’re really good at what you do, too many of us shy away from making a direct connection between the tips we offer and the outcome they want.
This is pervasive and its killing any chance you have of attracting new business.
So we may tell our audience how eating certain foods helps them metabolize food faster. But we won’t directly link that tip to they weight loss they yearn for.
And in so doing we leave tons of money on the table.
Since outcomes create desire, and desire moves prospects to want to hire us, it’s crucially important to create this direct link from tip to tangible outcome. So your audience sees the fastest path to what they want runs through you.

Urgent and Attainable
Here’s a story that illustrates the power of urgent and attainable: Since my gym is closed, I’ve been running a lot more. And its really done a number on my feet.
So I am actively searching for insoles for my shoes that will enable me to run and get my exercise without my feet making me sorry I did.
This is urgency: I am actively seeking a solution to a problem that is causing me discomfort and I’m willing to pay for it now if the right solution comes along.
So if you show up with a shoe insole that solves my problem, there’s a good chance I’m going to buy from you, because you answered my urgency with a solution that feels attainable to me.
This is another reason why you don’t want to get lost in the weeds explaining your process, because it can actually make your solution feel complicated and the result less attainable. So your hot prospect won’t join your list, won’t show interest and you will never hear from them again.

Share Stories of Success
Interesting Fact: When you tell a story, the same areas of the brain are activated as if you were actually experiencing the event itself.
It’s why movies are so compelling, even though you know you’re just watching images on a screen. It’s why television shows can move us and make us feel.
And when you tell stories of success as part of your podcast appearance, it can move your audience to feel those same emotions as if they were experiencing that triumph themselves.
Which makes them want that experience MORE.

And when you position your unique magic as the avenue that makes that experience possible, it can make them want YOU more.
It could be a success story, narrative or case history about people you’ve helped. Or it could even be your own story, where you experienced the impact in your own life.
When you bring your audience along on a journey that makes them feel something awesome is possible, it increases the chances they will join your list, reach out to you or even hire you after the podcast.
